Your Friendly Local Machine Shop

P3D started out as a 3d printing company in the early days of open-source RepRap 3d printers. While in school, we built one essentially from spare parts since there were no kits available at the time. Once we had printed enough plastic trinkets to last several lifetimes, Katie had the idea to offer printing as a service. We put together a website and started telling others in our engineering programs about our little plastic extruding CNC machine, and the rest is history.

As we grew, we realized we wanted to make higher strength and accuracy parts than additive manufacturing could provide. Nick taught himself CNC machining at a local community hackerspace that has some machine tools. Shortly thereafter we started taking on some small machining jobs alongside our 3d printing. The two technologies complemented each other well and our business grew from a side project into our full-time jobs. We outgrew our shared workspace and set out to locate a shop space and machinery of our own.

In 2018 we moved into our current facility in Maitland, FL and quickly added a range of machinery, tools, and equipment to help serve the ever-advancing needs of our customers. We’ve built custom software systems, optimized workflows for precision prototype work, and strategically invested in automation to help achieve short lead times, high quality, and fair prices for our customers. Most importantly we take pride in our work and truly care about our customer’s needs and results above all else!

This is the story so far. We would love to be a part of your company’s story too.
